7 Stars Wins Know Your Dose Award in Cannabis Safety Awards
7 Stars was named winner of the Cannabis Safety Awards, held annually by Americans for Safe Access (ASA). The awards aim to recognize individuals and organizations advancing research, education, patient protections, and practical solutions to cannabis safety challenges. This year, 7 Stars took the winning place for the Know Your Dose Award.
7 Stars created a resource for first time cannabis consumers and ran a viral social media campaign to encourage consumers to understand safe dosage before consuming cannabis. The campaign focuses on a "know your dose" approach to edibles and smoking, and offers practical, easy to use advice to avoid consuming too much and having a bad experience.
The campaign was featured on the Reddit home page on two separate occasions, generating hundreds of comments, thousands of upvotes, and over a million views. The campaign generated over three million impressions in search results.
7 Stars created resources specifically for first time cannabis smokers, with the intention of reaching people searching online for tutorials, instructions, or directions for their first time smoking. The campaign focuses on helping a person through their first bowl, with an emphasis on starting with one hit, setting a timer for 15 minutes, and taking another hit only if they are feeling good.
7 Stars also created a resource for first time edible consumers with the same goal—increasing doses in small increments with plenty of time between doses—to get a sense of one's tolerance. The campaign approaches edibles with microdosing as the recommended first step for new consumers. By choosing a product that is dosable by the milligram, and establishing a 24 hour reset before trying again, the campaign aims to avoid the common issue of taking more than intended.
Selected from 66 nominees across 17 categories, the winners were announced on October 29, 2026, marking the end of Cannabis Safety Month, which was created by ASA to address legitimate community concerns about youth exposure, impaired driving, product quality, and potential health risks. The ASA highlights leaders in the cannabis industry actively addressing these concerns, and creating innovative solutions. The Cannabis Safety Awards are intended to demonstrate that legitimate concerns can lead to stronger protections and better healthcare outcomes rather than new barriers to medical cannabis access.
