Cannabis Consultant Job Description

A Cannabis Consultant works with both medical and recreational (or Adult-Use) guests to identify their needs and provides them with the appropriate cannabis-based medication or product. Consultants need to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of cannabis products and their proper use, and are responsible for providing the highest level of informed and compassionate care to all patients, on the dispensary floor or on the phone. They must also have experience in retail sales, exhibit the highest standards in customer service and professionalism, and be passionate about the growing cannabis industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet All guests with a positive and warm attitude.

  • Provide new patients with a small overview of the shop and medicinal offerings; get to know them and understand their interest in cannabis.

  • Assist guests with identifying the particular type of cannabis and delivery method that best fits their needs.

  • Process sales

  • Adhere to strict distribution processes and maintain a professional and safe environment for all.

  • Stay current with new cannabis products and advancements in order to provide the most up-to-date treatment procedures and use of products.

  • Unpack, process, sort, count, and label merchandise, including items requiring special handling or refrigeration.

  • Restock storage areas replenish items on shelves.

  • Keep menus current with daily availability.

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the dispensary floor, behind the counter, and back rooms.

  • Pick up boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Stand for long periods of time.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have 2 years recent retail sales experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be compassionate, friendly, dependable, discreet, and have the ability to build a solid and professional rapport with guests.

  • Must have some knowledge of cannabis strains (indicas, hybrids, sativas), edibles, concentrates, and how they are used.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.

  • Must comply with an extensive background check via the City of Richmond.
